  2. If I wanted to use the portable drive on a MAC "and" a PC, what is needed?

1) What is the difference between the "Signature" and "Signature Deluxe" products?

The Signature drive only has a USB connector and the Signature Deluxe includes a USB and a Firewire 400 connection.

2) How do I make my Signature (Deluxe) drive compatible with both Windows and MAC operating system?

To format the drive on your Mac, follow the steps below:

  1. Connect and power the drive.
  2. Double click MacHD on your desktop.
  3. Double click Applications.
  4. Double click Utilities.
  5. Double click Disk Utility.
  6. On the left you will see the list of hard drives in your Mac. Find the SimpleDrive. It will show the size (in GB) with a second indented line beneath that says SimpleDrive or untitled.
  7. Click once on the line with the size (in GB) for the SimpleDrive.
  8. Click erase at the top of the screen.
  9. Select the format you want in the volume format box. MacOS Extended for Mac use only, and MS-DOS if you want to use the drive on both Mac and Windows.
  10. Change the name of the drive if desired.
  11. Click erase at the bottom of the screen, you will get a warning where you will click erase again.
The process should complete in less than 2 minutes and then the drive will be ready for use.
